Virtual Pregnancy Support Policy

Services I commit to providing are as follows: 

As your Virtual Doula, I agree to provide you with evidence-based education, information, and emotional support beginning at the signing of this contract and ending the date specified in this contract. Virtual Pregnancy Support includes the following:

• Answer questions and provide resources

• Give a sense of peace and calmness.

• Discuss upcoming prenatal appointments and what to expect

• Helping effective communication reviewing goals and preferences with your care providers

• Preparing partner on how to offer physical support during your birth.

• During labor and birth, your doula is able to offer support via phone, text or video conference. Encouraging comfort measures techniques, offering insight about the labor positions, answering questions about the process, or being a constant and calming presence… your birth doula and partner will work collaboratively with your care providers to ensure you have a fulfilling and supported birth experience. 

 

The Virtual Pregnancy Support package also includes the following: 

 

• Intake session to help us understand the support you’re seeking

• Initial getting to know you video call with your doula ​

• Up to ten one-hour customized video calls with a range of topics to choose from including choosing your care provider/birth location, creating your registry, common pregnancy ailments and remedies, what to expect at your upcoming OB/midwife prenatal visits, go-to baby gadgets or any other topics you would like before thirty-six weeks gestation. 

• Access to your doula to answer your questions, ease your concerns and provide reassurance whenever you need! 

• Recommendations for trusted community resources 

 

I will be giving you my personal contact information for 24/7 informational/emotional support from the time you hire me. Feel free to call, text, or email me any time with any questions, concerns, or encouragement. I also commit to being on call for virtual support during your birth from 36 weeks gestation until a week after delivery.

It is important to note that my job as your Doula is not to speak for you or your partner (should you have one) in the birth space but to give you the information, validation, and support you need to effectively advocate for yourself whether you are having a home or hospital birth.

Fees are final and may not be refunded unless I default on the contract.

As your Doula, it is my job to ensure that you are supported emotionally, physically, and informationally no matter what type of birth you are planning. Regardless of the outcome of your pregnancy, I commit to supporting you in every way I am qualified and capable of as per our agreement.

 

Scope of Practice for Doulas:

As a virtual antenatal doula, my services will be limited to emotional and informational support services. I do not give medical advice. It is not in my scope of practice to offer, nor go against any medical advice or act as a substitute for any medical professional. I do not force my own values and preferences on you. My role is to support you!

 

Fees:

My fee for Virtual Pregnancy Support is $500.00. A non-refundable retainer of $250.00 (50% of the total cost of the services) will be due at our first virtual appointment. The balance owed will be due at the final virtual appointment. A refund of your package(s) will be given under the following circumstances only:

• You decide that you have changed your mind regarding my services, for any reason, and you give me notice three weeks prior to your due date. This could include an emergency during pregnancy that results in hospitalization or premature birth of your baby. In this case, I will refund 50% of your service package upon request. (Please know, however, that I am willing to support you through any crisis and will complete the package of services).

 

A refund of your package(s) will not be given under the following circumstances:

• I am not able to virtually support you because you did not contact me. Please allow up to 15 minutes maximum to receive a call back.

• You change your mind regarding having a doula, for any reason, any day after three weeks from your due date.

 

My Promise to You:

I will always do my best for you. I am very conscientious during the "on-call" time period, and you are never far from my thoughts at this time. I will return urgent phone calls as quickly as possible. For non-urgent matters (such as seeking information, wanting to give me an update, needing to change a scheduled appointment, etc.), I will return calls within 24 hours or, if it is over the weekend, on Monday during normal business hours. B. Rooted Wellness values our clients and their needs!

 

Responsibilities of the Client:

Please notify me of any medical information related to your pregnancy or of any changes during pregnancy that your doctor or midwife has confirmed within 24 hours of the initial update. In the final month of your pregnancy, please call me after each prenatal visit with your midwife or doctor. This regular communication will help me stay up to date with how you are doing and enable me to support you with any concerns or issues. I will provide you with written information about when and how to contact me when you think you are in labor. Please follow my guidelines as they are designed to ensure that we all get the proper rest before your birth, while also enabling you to get the support you need when you need it. Should anything change in your personal financial circumstances that means you will not have a scheduled payment for me at an anticipated appointment, please give me as much advance notice as possible of this change. Such notice will allow me to plan my own finances accordingly and then we can explore possible solutions to the problem together. I depend upon you to be very frank and direct with me about your needs and expectations before, during, and after childbirth.

 

Indemnification:

Client agrees to indemnify, defend and hold B. Rooted Wellness, its agents, members, doulas, and representatives harmless from all claims, losses, judgments, damages, expenses and costs (including, without limitation, attorneys’ fees and court costs), whether fixed or contingent, and whether or not adjudicated, arising from or in any way related to: (a) the breach of any of its obligations hereunder; (b) damage to real or tangible personal property of client or any third party as a result of the fault of client and not due to the fault of B. Rooted Wellness its agents members, doulas, or representatives, (c) bodily injury to any party caused by client and not caused by B. Rooted Wellness, its agents members, doulas, or representatives; (d) any breach of representations or warranties regarding services of B. Rooted Wellness made by clients or any other third party; (e) payment of services owed to birthing facility; (f) any unauthorized act or omission of the doulas which may be determined to be binding upon B. Rooted Wellness; and (g) the negligence, recklessness or willful misconduct of the B. Rooted Wellness or its agent, doulas, members or representatives, (h) the aforementioned exceptions of services, including but not limited to, medical monitoring, medical decisions, medical opinion, treatment options, physician services, and medical services.
